Natural Composition

Good morning, crafting friends...

This card was specially made for my dear friend Surbhi :) - I feel that the sentiment is exactly right for her.

I am using the Natural Composition Specialty DSP for the outer layer - it is card stock weight paper, so I scored it and made it to resemble a file folder, wrapped around with a length of 1 1/4" Burlap ribbon (from the Holiday Catalog). I brushed the edges of the burlap with clear nail polish to make it stop fraying. I don't remember where I picked up that little trick but I can report that it works.

Here is the inner layer, which is a flip card - that I had cut using the Circle Thinlits die. Here is a little secret: It looks hard to make, but it is actually very easy. Fun!

The inside sentiment says: You just give, give, give... thanks, thanks, thanks. It is from a stamp set called Lots of Thanks in the annual Catalog.

Supplies used:
Stamp sets: Tea Party, Lots of Thanks, Friendly Phrases
Ink pads: Early Espresso, Old Olive
Card stocks: Very Vanilla, Calypso Coral, Natural Composition Specialty DSP
Tools: 3/16" corner rounder punch, 2 3/8" scallop circle punch, Big Shot machine, Circle Thinlits die
Accessories: 1 1/4" burlap ribbon, Naturals Designer Button, Baker's Twine, Etcetera DSP

Happy stamping,

Liza

Supplies used:
Stamp set: Tea Party

Ink pads: Old Olive, Baked Brown Sugar (for edges)
Tools: Big Shot machine, Ovals Collection Framelits, Boho Blossom punch
Accesories: DSP Afternoon Picnic, Old Olive 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Large Pearl Basic Jewel, Stampin' Dimensionals

DSP Modern Medley

Happy November, crafting friends...

Halloween went by already! Last night the children in our neighborhood went trick or treating and it was a fun night out for both the littlest ones to the high schoolers. Needless to say, we have lots of candies lying around the house right now.

So, the weather is cooler and it is so nice to be outside. I am thinking of pairing our In Colors collections (of Raspberry Ripple, Midnight Muse and Gumball Green) with the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper. They are available in the Annual Idea Book & Catalog and it is a classy Very Vanilla and Basic Black patterns.

Here it is. I made a trio of cards. The sentiment is from a stamp set called Feel Goods. I am using Jet Black Staz On Ink pad for the sentiment. Love the result.

Then, I added the little trio of embellishments on the right hand corner.

And here is what I added to the inside of the card, a little strip of the same DSP - I think - is a nice finishing.

Thank you for peeking, crafting friends...

Happy stamping,

Liza

Tags 4 You

Hello there, crafting friends...

This is a quick and easy card that I made last week, because my first thought was: wouldn't it be cool to make fall leaves colors using the Crisp Cantaloupe color. It is not quite the natural color it should be, but it still falls within a variation of it.

So I started to work.

I made a bunch of die cut leaves with my Bigz Autumn Accents die and Crisp Cantaloupe textured card stock from the Coredinations In Colors 2013-2015 pack.

Then, I turned to the new bundle of Tags 4 You stamp set and matching Label Bracket punch (from the Holiday Catalog) to finish off the project. Whoa! It was so easy to use. That makes me happy. (+ 2 buttons to accentuate the leaves). Done.

My background patterned paper is from Sweater Weather DSP.

Supplies used:
Stamp sets: Tags 4 You
Ink pads: Chocolate Chip, Baked Brown Sugar (for the edges)
Card stocks: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Crisp Cantaloupe textured Coredinations card stock, Sweater Weather DSP
Tools: Big Shot machine, Label Bracket punch
Accessories: Bigz Autumn Accents die, Brights designer button, Very Vintage Designer Button, Early Espresso Baker's Twine, Basic Rhinestone Jewels.

Thank you for taking a peek today.

Hugs,

Liza

Thinlits Label Card

Good morning, crafting friends...

Today's card is a little different, as you can see.

I am using a new line of die called "Thinlits" that will take your Big Shot die cut machine use to the next level. This particular Thinlits die is called Thinlits Label Card and it makes a flip card (pretty cool! I first saw it demonstrated during SU! Convention this past summer). I love the surprise factor when the recipient opens the card :)

Now, my dear friend/fellow paper crafter Lia's birthday is coming up, so I raked my brain for a special card to send to her.

So, here is my flip card.

You can make the flip card as is, but when I first rolled it out from the Big Shot, I felt it was a bit naked. So I added a card base to it. I think that looks better :) The die comes with little bits and pieces that you can use for your projects and this matching nesting label shape to go with the flipping part.

The patterned paper I am using is called Birthday Basics DSP and it is really fun.

Supplies used:
Stamp sets: Cycle Celebration, Make a Wish
Ink pads: Early Espresso, Raspberry Ripple, Bermuda Bay, Summer Starfruit
Card stocks: Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Whisper White
Tools: Big Shot machine, Thinlits Label Card die, Decorative Label punch, 1 3/4" circle punch
Accesories: Birthday Basics DSP, Season of Style Designer Washi Tape, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Brights Designer Buttons, Early Espresso Baker's Twine

Thanks for stopping by, crafting friends.

Witches' Brew (Happy Halloween)

Hi there, crafting friends... It is October already! Happy October!

This is my attempt at this sketch below from Clean and Simple Stamping blog (which I love to follow but don't always execute).

This is seriously a 10 minute card, I whipped up 3 at one sitting quickly. I finally figured out how to use the skull tape from Witches' Brew Designer Washi Tape in the Holiday Catalog. I paired it with a sentiment from the That's the Ticket stamp set and it makes a good pair.

The background behind the sentiment looked empty, so I added a random splatter stamped image from Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. Done.

Supplies used:
Stamp sets: Gorgeous Grunge, That's the Ticket
Ink pads: Baked Brown Sugar, Tangerine Tango
Card stock: Naturals Ivory
Tools: Ticket punch, Large Oval punch, 3/16" corner rounder
Accessories: Witches Brew Designer Washi Tape, Brights Designer Buttons, Large Jewels Basic Rhinestone, Brights Candy Dots.

Thanks for peeking.

Magnificent Maple

Happy Fall, dear crafting friends...

How are you all doing?

Crafting and blogging schedules are not as often as I would love to (as you can see), but I am grateful that we are healthy, doing well and thankful for whatever we have on our plate.

The Holiday Catalog is here, full of lovely Holiday inspiration. Goodies are available to order now.

Magnificent Maple is one of the stamp available in the Holiday Catalog. I am creating my own home made patterned paper using just one single stamp, and I am excited to report that the outcome comes out really lovely. My color combo is Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango and Baked Brown Sugar. As you can see, I stamped it on a piece of 8.5"x11" Very Vanilla card stock.

Here is the first simple and easy card that I made with the pretty maple leaves. My first Thanksgiving card for the year.

And then, I made another one with left over strips of DSPs (from DSP Sweater Weather- in the Holiday Catalog)- finished off with a Naturals Designer Button and Early Espresso Baker's Twine. The sentiment is from the stamp set Happy Day (in the Annual Catalog) - think I carted this one particular stamp set from this year's Stampin' Up! Convention.

Now, you think would't it be cool to create a set of cards from a whole piece of your home made patterned paper as a gift for a friend?

Happy stamping,

Liza

This and That

Hi there, crafting friends...

What are you creating this week? Have you been busy tinkering about the house and craft room and kitchen (not necessarily in that order) :) but that's what I have been doing with the kids at home. They have summer school only in the mornings.

I have not been using much of my This and That product suite, and here is my first attempt. Actually, after I finished it, I think this is a cool card and this might just be my swap for this year's SU! Convention (I will be at Convention and one big part that demonstrators do is swapping cards and other paper crafting projects with one another, so I will come home with not only new knowledge but also new ideas as well!!)

All the stamping is done directly on the Designer Series Paper. I cut up half of a Label Punch and it is becoming my "tag".

You have heard me saying it, Washi Tapes are my new paper crafting BFF! You will be seeing it a lot. LOL. 2 pieces are torn up on the right corner there.

Supplies used:
Stamp sets: Feel Goods, Amazing Family
Ink pads: Early Espresso, Soft Suede
Card stocks: crumb Cake, Tangerine Tango
Accesories: Label punch, Large Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Naturals Designer Buttons, Island Indigo Baker's Twine, This and That DSP, Epic Day This and That Washi Tapes

Quatrefancy

Hi there, crafting friends...

I checked out the latest sketch from FTL245 and really like this row of banner on the sketch (thank you for the inspiration, Natasha).

I pulled out the new Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper (in the new annual SU! catalog) and played with the sketch. I cut out a variety of length of all the different patterns, all 1" wide.

As you can see, I was having so much fun, I made a set of this!

Supplies used:
Stamp set: Perfectly Penned, Mosaic Madness
Cardstock: Naturals White, Gumball Green, Soft Sky, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Ink pad: Early Espresso, Strawberry Slush
Accessories: Mosaic punch, Quaterfancy Specialty DSP, Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons, Baker's Twine, Stampin' Dimensionals

Here is wishing you a good week ahead. Happy crafting.

That's the Ticket

Happy Saturday morning, crafting friends...

Today's post will be a little longer than usual, I thought I would update you with what I have been creating in my stamp room in the past week :) Let's start...

I'm always in need of sets of cards on hand to give as gifts, so I am always on the lookout of different ways I can create these in all the different color combos that I can do that in.

Here is my first set today, 4 of these in Wild Wasabi, Elegant Eggplant, Crisp Cantaloupe (the current 2013-2015 In Color) and Calypso Coral. I thought the 4 of these together feel fresh together.

A close up of the Calypso Coral one. I had embossed a smaller piece of Calypso Coral card stock with Honeycomb Embossing Folders.

Stamping the sentiment in That's the Ticket stamp set and punched out with my Ticket punch and
layered it with the Four Frames stamp set and Decorative Label punch is a new and fresh way to use these together. Fun!! I stamped the frame in Bermuda Bay ink for a shot of brightness.

Supplies used for the Happy Birthday Ticket card set:
Stamp sets: That's the Ticket, Four Frames
Cardstocks: Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Wild Wasabi, Elegant Eggplant, Garden Green
Ink pads: Bermuda Bay, Early Espresso, Soft Suede (for edges)
Accessories: Big Shot machine, Honeycomb Embossing Folders, doily, 1 3/8" circle punch, Ticket punch, Decorative Label punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Daffodil Delight 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon

Next up is another set of cards, yay!! I am getting my list done along the way with these.

These are: Wisteria Wonder, Tempting Turquoise, and Baked Brown Sugar (again, it is the current 2013-2015 In Color). Love all these 3 together and I am having fun pairing the In Colors with the SU! core colors.

I started by stamping the heartfelt image from the Layered Labels stamp set in Real red ink on Very Vanilla card stock and then cutting it with my Apothecary Accents Framelits on the Big Shot machine. Perfect match :)

Then I embossed a piece of card stock with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folders, raised up the "heartfelt image" with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I finished off with a button from the new Catalog called Very Vintage Designer Buttons, embellished with a bit of Pistachio Pudding leaves.

Supplies used:
Stamp set: Layered Labels
Card stocks: Wisteria Wonder, Tempting Turquoise, Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding, Very Vanilla
Ink pad: Real Red
Accessories: Big Shot machine, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Very Vintage Designer Buttons, Large Rhinestones Basic Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals, circle punch

There are 2 more card sets that follow: 3 ways to say "thanks", using bits and pieces on my desk and my new paper crafting BFF: Washi Tapes.

And a set of birthdays...

Thank you for coming by to visit and reading up this far. Happy stamping!!

Delicate Doilies in Gold

Hi there, crafting friends...

I have been creating with all my new goodies :) I am using a background layer from a new patterned paper called Quatrefancy DSP.

The Delicate Doily stamp image is not new, but a stamp image can easily change its look by having it heat embossed, it has that raised texture that makes a card feels special.

Also on this project, what I was actually doing was using up the little this and that that were lying around my desk :) Note the new Mosaic Madness stamp set and matching Mosaic punch. I am exploring it :)

Supplies used:
Stamp sets: Delicate Doilies, Sweet Essentials, Mosaic Madness
Ink pads: Early Espresso, Versamark (and Gold Embossing Powder), Strawberry Slush
Cardstocks: Crisp Cantaloupe, Whisper White, Naturals Ivory
Accessories: Large Basic Pearl, Mosaic punch, 2 1/2" circle punch, Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Stampin' Dimensionals, Quatrefancy DSP, Stampin' Dimensionals.

Happy stamping to you all! Enjoy.

Sweet Essentials

Hello there, crafting friends...

What have you been creating today?

I am using the current sketch from FTL 243 as above (which I have not played in a WHILE) and I have been pulling out new goodies from the new catalog. It's been fun to potter around my craft room while the kids are home (school year is over, summer has officially started).

The new patterned paper is called DSP Gingham Garden. Yum!

The stripe on the label die cut is from a new stamp set called Mosaic Madness.

The sentiment is from a set called Sweet Essentials, and if you have not heard yet, it is 25% off this month. Cool!

The "flower" is a stamp set called A Round Array which is designed to coordinate with the 7/8" scallop circle punch. Whew! 3 different stamp sets on one card :)

I simply finished off with a few pearls and jewels scattered on the label die cut.

Supplies used:
Stamp sets: Sweet Essentials, A Round Array, Mosaic Madness
Ink pads: Melon Mambo, Island Indigo, Midnight Muse
Cardstocks: Island Indigo, Naturals White, Crumb Cake, Garden Green, Blushing Bride
Accessories: 1 1/4" and 7/8" scallop circle punches, 1 3/8" circle punch (for leaves), Rhinestones Basic Jewels, Basic Pearls, Stampin' Dimensionals, Gingham Garden DSP, Framelits Labels and Big Shot machine.

Here is another card that I made using the Gingham Garden DSP.

The cute tiered cake is from a stamp set called "Make a Wish" and then I stamped the sentiment "make a wish" over the cake (from Sweet Essentials stamp set).

Here is a close up look. Did you spot the button, that is a new item in the new catalog called Very Vintage Designer Buttons. (Love).

Supplies used:
Stamp sets: Make a Wish, Sweet Essentials
Ink pads: Melon Mambo, Early Espresso
Cardstocks: Very Vanilla, Soft Sky, Old Olive
Accessories: Very Vintage Designer Buttons, 1 3/8" circle punch, Basic Pearls, Window Frames Collection Framelits, Big Shot machine, Stampin' Dimensionals, Glue Dots (to adhere the leaves), Gingham Garden DSP.

Thank you for stopping by.

Enjoy the rest of your day.
