Money envelope

Hi there! How about a hand-made hand-stamped money envelope for Chinese New Year? I made one this weekend and like the result of what I think is east meets west style. Scrapbook paper and stamps in traditional Chinese New Year color of red and gold.

I have been thinking about money envelope for the last week or two and finally decided of actually making an altered envelope, as opposed to making one from scratch. The envelope is a regular office supply coin envelope. I covered it with the Raspberry Tart DSP, framed with Real Red card stock.

Here is a detailed shot of the sentiment. I embossed the Curly Label with my new SU! Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder (available in the Occasions Mini catalog).

For those of you who are not in this part of the world, Chinese New Year is the celebration of the lunar new year. This year, it will fall right on Valentine's Day on Feb. 14. On that day, little children get money stashed in a red envelope. I have a whole bunch of little nephews and nieces. So I had better get busy making some more red envelopes :) This one will be for my parents.

Thank you for stopping by. What are you making this weekend?

Hugs,
Liza

Stamp set: Teeny Tiny Wishes

Wall Art 2

Hello! Here is more wall art :) I made 4 of these altogether.

Love that sentiment: Follow your heart. I added a little Rose Red heart mounted on Dimensionals with my new punch.

Here is another one, simply cut from that Sweet Pea DSP and added the sentiment with a marker (I omitted the word "small". The sentiment says "small wonder") and mounted on dimensionals.

And this is all 4 of them together. They look so cheerful :) Now I have to decide which wall it is going to be :)

Recipe (all by SU!)
Cardstock and paper: Sweet Pea DSP, Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Rose Red
Stamp set: Whimsical Words
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Tools: Large Oval, Scallop Oval, Wide Oval, Curly Label, Small Heart punches
Everything else: Stampin' Dimensionals, brads

Wall Art I

Happy Saturday :) I have been thinking about wall art projects for a long time, so glad to be able to work on it :)

The new Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper in the Occasions Mini Catalog is so sweet. I have been admiring it, when I thought, why not display it :) I love the cute little bird above. All I did was add a button and linen tread on the largest flower. Here is another one below:

The sentiment is from one of the Sale-a-Bration sets, Whimsical Words. And then, I added the bird and branch from the new bird punch.

Here is a full picture.

Where I create... (part 2)

Hello, everyone! Thank you for stopping by for a little tour of my crafting space. I have some more pictures.

These white bins are from Sogo grocery store. They are Japanese. I am a fan of anything Japanese! I think they have an eye for cool design. These bins also remind me a bit of the Container Store :) (hi, Huey!) I have picked up a bunch more to organize things around the house.

My ink pads fit into these bins and they are within reach whenever I need them :)

I find that I tend to use things when I can see them, so I try not to put them hidden away. Out of sight, out of mind and all that.

I ran into this little decorative bird cage on our last trip to Bali. My friend, Elice and I spent an afternoon shopping the artsy boutiques along Seminyak. Love that area! Definitely want to go back :) Anyway, I saw it, I fell in love with it, loved the reasonable price, knew exactly where I was going to put it, and I hand carried it home! Crazy, I know but I think it is a good buy :)

I have been trying to upload more photos but somehow it is not working out. It takes forever to upload and after retrying several times, I leave it as it is now.

It is late at night for me here :) Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Hugs,
Liza

Where I create...

Happy Thursday! May I take you on a little tour of my crafting room? This is a room that I had envisioned in my head for the longest time so it is really exciting to see it come to life :)

I have graduated from having part of the kitchen table, a corner of the study, a corner of the dining room in Beijing to a corner of the living room in DC to a proper room for all my stash, tools and supply :)

When we got an email of the layout of our future Jakarta apartment, I picked this room. I had imagined plenty of natural light of the room as it is facing east and I am glad it is. I love it in the morning with plenty of sunshine :)

We made a few trips to Ikea before we headed out to Jakarta and I am glad we did! :) Love these square bookcases and especially because it is the perfect size to store 12"x12" paper and card stock. I love arranging and rearranging the cabinets so this is still an ongoing process until I find a system that works for me.

Hannah normally puts her stuffed toys here but I love to sit on this Ikea arm chair and browse at craft magazines.

My cutting station :) A kitchen furniture from Ikea which was the perfect height for me to stand and crank on the Big Shot machine. This little table has wheels so it can easily rolls to other parts of the room and it comes in handy when friends visit.

This is a full view of one side of the room. My work table is on the left side with the white chair. The walls are still bare- this will be an ongoing project as well :)

I will have more photos tomorrow. Thank you for stopping by and taking this little tour with me. It is a special place for me :) If you have any ideas or thoughts, feel free to leave a comment. I am always on the lookout for organizational ideas.

Have a good day, you all.

Hugs,
Liza

New goodies

Hello! Where has the time gone? A week has flown by! Hope all is well with you all there. I have new goodies to play with :)

New punches! They snap shut and store flat when not in use. I can just picture them lining up on my work table. And these new clear stamps! They store flat in a DVD case. I lined up the little I have now on my work table. Lovely!

New Designer Series Paper to play with as well! Just opened these at random. Really pretty! I am still admiring them...

I am signing off now. Have a good rest of the week, you all.

Happy Birthday, Hannah :)

Hello :) Today my little Hannah is 4 :) She was so excited about celebrating at her preschool. Pak Medi, our cook, baked a chocolate cake yesterday and this morning she woke up way too early, ready to "help" decorate the cake.

I stamped "Happy Birthday" on scrap paper for the cake :)

We made these little goody baskets for all her little friends at preschool. She loves cranking that Big Shot machine. I am just using left over patterned paper for this project. The baskets look good with double sided patterned paper.

This morning, my husband explained the meaning of "blessing" and "to bless" to our children. Happy blessed birthday, little girl.

Thank you for stopping by.

Hugs,
Liza

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #21

Hi! When I saw Dawn's color challenge here yesterday, I was immediately thinking of a baby card :) Soft yellow works for both baby boy and girl. Here is what I came up with. The layout comes from FTL71 here.

My color combo is So Saffron, Bermuda Bay, Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip.

I dry embossed the Chocolate Chip circles and then pasted them under the Bermuda Bay panel to make large scallop edge.

This baby elephant is colored with dabs of So Saffron markers. I hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Hugs,
Liza

For the newlyweds

Hello! One of my husband's colleague is going to have a wedding reception this weekend. I was asked to make a wedding card that is big enough for the whole section to sign :)

When I looked into my stash, I found an accordion Baja Breeze card base left over from a past project last spring, so I started with that :) The extra panels will provide enough space for everyone to sign. I dry embossed the Basic Gray cover with Stampin' Up! Manhattan Flowers Embossing Folder.

I spritzed Basic Black marker with the Color Spritzer Tool on the right hand corner to add some texture, and tie Whisper White Organza Ribbon to close the panels.

Here is the panels opened.

Recipe: (all by SU! unless noted)
Cardstock and paper: Baja Breeze (ret.), Basic Gray, Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss (ret.), Urban Oasis DSP
Stamp sets: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Fifth Ave. Floral, Noteworthy (ret.)
Ink pads: Basic Gray, Kiwi Kiss, Basic Black marker
Everything else: Eyelet Border, Scallop Edge, Large Oval, Modern Label punches, pearls from my stash, Stampin' Dimensionals, Whisper White Organza ribbon, Color Spritzer tool, Big Shot machine, SU! Manhattan Flowers embossing folders

Thank you for stopping by. Enjoy your week.

Liza

Cardstock and paper: Very Vanilla, Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo. October Afternoon DP
Stamp set: Out of the Box, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Melon Mambo, Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay
