Vintage Vogue

Hi there! I have not got around to inking up my Vintage Vogue set until now, though I have seen some pretty samples with it :) When I looked at the flowers and leaf images, I wanted to create a patterned paper with it. It is addicting! I look at all my stamps and imagine what patterns and color combo I can create with it :)

My patterned paper... color combo is Rose Red, Taken with Teal, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive and Kraft.
Here is my card. The card base is Naturals Ivory. I find that it goes really well with vintage or shabby chic style.

Another happy find from that glassware store... A new home for my markers :) Colorfully residing in a square vase.
Thank you for stopping by.

Hugs,
Liza

Hello there! Here is the other part of the same patterned paper I made yesterday, except that I added little olive flowers to it, instead of the hearts. My color combo is Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand, and Kraft.

I ended up adding a piece of Old Olive card stock stamped with Versamark as a subtle background. Here it is:

Little birdie

Happy Saturday! We are gone this weekend, but I have scheduled some postings :)

Here is another DIY patterned paper that I made with the Kraft card stock. I stamped A to Z background stamp (available in the Mini Occasions catalog) in Sahara Sand ink. And then over stamped it with the little birdie and hearts. My color combo is Kraft, Sahara Sand, Melon Mambo, and Rich Razzleberry.

I then added a border of Rich Razzleberry card stock with the Pinking Hearts border punch.

Here is the end result:

I hope you are inspired to create some patterned paper of your own :) Thank you for stopping by.

Hugs,
Liza

Fox & Friends patterned paper

Happy Friday! We are flying to Malang today for Chinese New Year celebration with my big family. It will be exciting to show little Hudson and Hannah where I used to spend school vacations in my grandparents' home. It will be their first trip to this mountain town.

I was just thinking what else I can make with the Fox & Friends stamp set, when it occured to me, I can make my own patterned paper :) This blog post by Geny Cassady inspired me. She made her own patterned paper with Kraft card stock! Being a paper lover that I am, I got excited about the possibility :)

Here is what I made with a piece of Kraft card stock. My color combo is Old Olive, Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay. Stamped these animals randomly.

Next, I made this:

And then I made this with the left over paper:

Can you imagine the possibility now? You can make your own patterned paper in any color combo that you like!

"Good Friend set" thank you

This week CAS16 at Splitcoaststampers is here a remake of your own creation. Last year, I used to make my own patterned paper, lining images up like above. I used to make it in polka dot. Marlene might remember. So this year, I remake it using the Good Friend set. Lined the flowers in pacific point, so saffron and pumpkin pie. Added little flowers in cameo coral to fill it up.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you like it.

Recipe (all by SU!)
Cardstock: Pacific Point, Whisper White, So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie
Stamp set: Good Friend, Cheep Talk, Bella Blossom (sentiment)
Inks: Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Basic Gray
Everything else: Pacific Point ribbon, Spiral, Large oval, Scallop oval punches, Stampin' Dimensionals, 3/16" Corner Rounder

shabby chic...

This is a style that was inspired by Michelle Wooderson- whose blog I admire. I have stamped on patterned paper before but she did more by making a project out of 3 different stamped patterned paper. The result is shabby chic beautiful, which had been a style I have been having in my head for some time, especially after I met a crafter friend Jacquie last Friday. She showed me some of her hand made bookmarks done in this style, it is so yummy!
I did not end up doing 3 custom made papers today, not enough time for that, but it is on my mental note list :) I only did one. I pulled out a polka dot paper and stamped Bella Toile background stamp in Mellow Moss. Click on the photo for a close up on the background stamp.
I then made a Mellow Moss card base. Cut up a bit of kraft cardstock. Inked all the cardstock edges in Whisper White ink, which gave it that soft aged look. Stamped my sentiment in Always Artichoke. Tied ribbon and finished up with a cluster of buttons.
It came together pretty quickly. I hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by.

Forest Friend distressed card

Wanting to try making DIY patterned paper using another color of card stock, other than white or vanilla... so this one is in Pacific Point.
I took out my Forest Friend stamp set, a cutie :)- stamped the deer in Whisper White craft ink. Stamped the trees in Pacific Point.  I filled in the empty spaces with tiny flowers. Next, I took out my new Color Spritzer tool (pg. 190 of the Spring Summer IBC) and spritzed Sahara Sand marker on it to add some background texture. This was my first time using this tool, I think I picked a color that was too light. It barely shows. I hope you can see it on the photo. I would use Chocolate Chip next time to give it a nice natural looking background.
Next I took out a steak knife from the kitchen to distress the edges of the card stock (a tip I found here, Claire Brennan's blog is so cool. Hop on over to see her cool eye for designs. Thanks, Claire! I have been using the edge of my large scissors but I found steak knife gives a more distressed look. Way cool!)
I finished off by mounting the whole Pacific Point panel on Stampin' Dimensionals. Double matted it with white and kraft. I added the sentiment (isn't that a sweet one!) and added some ribbon treatment and used Marlene's button again (she gave me a pretty big bag! I have way more to go :) and again mounted everything on dimensionals.

EDITED TO ADD: Claire poined to the origin of the steak knife idea http://inksatiable-stamper.blogspot.com/ Thanks!

There you have it, I hope you like it. Thank you for stopping by.

Ink: Pacific Point, Whisper White, Basic Black, Sahara Sand.

A Day to Remember...

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by...

I made this card because I wanted to experiment making a row of "medalions" from the Sweet Sampler stamp set. I like the result. I think I can make it longer and wider next time as my DIY patterned paper. I started with a Chocolate Chip card base. Cut a Baja Breeze polka dot textured patterned paper (from Parisian Breeze DSP) slightly smaller than my card base. Scallop the bottom edge. Tied Chocolate Chip ribbon around. So that makes my color combo as: Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla.

I stamped a row of medallions on Very Vanilla cardstock with the help of Stamp a Majig. Double matted it with Chocolate Chip and Baja Breeze for contrast. Note: cut the Baja Breeze cardstock slightly wider to allow for eyelet border. I added 2 brads on the right for interest. Mounted the whole panel on Stampin' Dimensionals. I then finished off with a sentiment punched with large oval and scallop oval and mounted on more Stampin' Dimensionals for a 3D look.

That's it. I hope you like it.

Recipes (all by SU!)
Cardstock and paper: Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Parisian Breeze DSP

Ink: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip

Forest Friends

This cute stamp set is called "Forest Friends" and you can find it in the Mini Occasions Catalog that debuted in April 1. I have just finally got around to playing with it. The look that I wanted to achieve is some kind of patterned paper featuring these little critters and the tree (kind of like those fancy patterned papers you see in the stores :)

I picked my color combo: Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum and Basic Gray. Then started with a Whisper White piece of cardstock. I stamped first a Polka Dot background on it in Pale Plum. Then I stamped the different images in the different colors I picked. I started with the largest image first (the tree) to the smallest. The smallest image would be perfect to fill in the empty spaces. It took me 3 tries to get this right * wink* but I love the look it achieved when I got this right. I stamped a larger piece of cardstock for this so you might see this again in the future. (Click on the photo for a more close-up look).

I then finished off my card by layering my DIY patterned paper with a Perfect Plum cardstock. Scalloped the edge. Poked holes in each scallop with my Mat Pack. Mounted it on a Kiwi Kiss card base. Tied ribbon. Created the sentiment cluster by stamping the bunny and sentiment. Punched in 1 1/4" circle. Mounted it on Kiwi Kiss curly punch. Button Bouquet with linen thread finished the look.

I hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by.

Recipe (all by SU!):
Cardstock: Whisper White, Perfect Plum, Kiwi Kiss
Stamp sets: Forest Friends, Polka Dot, Noteworthy (retired)
Inks: Pale Plum, Kiwi Kiss, Perfect Plum, Basic Gray, Baja Breeze
The sweet stuff (aka. accesories): Curly, Scallop Edge, 1 1/4" circle punches, Kiwi Kiss striped grosgrain ribbon, Button Bouquet, linen thread, dimensionals, Mat Pack.

Happy Butterfly

Today's weekly sketch at SCS 223 is this http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=430854
Fun sketch, but it took me so long to come up with this card :)
I wanted to play with a color that I am not normally using, like Pink Passion! (this card by Angie Tieman inspired me http://schwooo.blogspot.com/2009/04/lauras-sketch-23-polka-dot-punches.html to use this color and use my new Beautiful Butterfly die somehow :)

I made my own patterned paper again with a piece of Pink Passion cardstock. Stamped polka dot punches in white then over stamped butterflies in Pink Passion. Layered with white eyelet borders. For the focal point, I stamped the sentiment and little flowers. Double matted it. Die cut the butterfly with my Big Shot machine. Stamped white polka dots on the butterfly. Topped it with button and linen thread. Tied ribbon and mounted the whole panel on dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you like it.

Recipes: (all supplies by SU!)
Cardstock: Pink Passion, Whisper White, Baja Breeze
Stamp sets: Flight of the Butterfly, Polka Dot Punches
Ink: Pink Passion, Whisper White, Basic Black
The sweet stuff (aka. accesories): Big Shot machine, Beautiful Butterfly die, Baja Breeze striped grosgrain ribbon, eyelet border, scalloped square, 1 1/4" square punches, Button Bouquet, linen thread, dimensionals

Raspberry Suite color challenge week 3

I made this next card last night while watching 24. When I saw pink, red and kraft, I gotta give it a try :)

I interpreted these as: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla, Kraft and Cameo Coral. I was thinking of Pumpkin Pie but I read Dawn's description as more pink than orange so I took that as Cameo Coral...

Still playing with Garden Greetings set... I started with a kraft card base, layered with Riding Hood Red cardstock, pieces of patterned paper from Sweet Bella DSP. I cut a large scalloped circle with my Big Shot machine and die. Stamped my circle in the different flowers and colors to make my own "patterned paper". (This is what I enjoy most about stamping: the versatility to create your own patterned paper, in whatever color and images you want to play with). Cut it in half.

I finished by tying the ribbon, topped off with Pink Pirouette button. Mounted the half circle on dimensionals. Added sentiment, mounted on dimensionals.
I hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by.

Easter Wishes

Spring break and Easter week is here. I am showing you a couple of cards I made for Easter.
This was using Polka Dot Punches set from Sale a Bration 2009. After deciding on my color combo (kiwi kiss, pale plum, perfect plum), I made my own patterned paper. Stamping the different images with different colors. Then I matted my DIY patterned paper on pale plum cardstock and mounted it onto my card base. It is finished off with kiwi kiss ribbon and kiwi kiss button next to the sentiment combo.

Recipe for this card:
Cardstock: whisper white, pale plum, perfect plum
Ink: kiwi kiss, pale plum, perfect plum, basic gray
Stamp set: Polka Dot Punches, All Holidays (sentiment)
